Ridge’s training method focuses less on knowing and more on real-world doing. A typical hour of Ridge training includes 10 minutes of presentation, 20 minutes of demonstrating course skills, and 30 minutes of skill practice with feedback, from colleagues as well as our master trainers. Instead of scripted scenarios, participants practice using actual work issues so they’re ready to use their skills successfully on the job the very next day. Our reinforcement tools and coaching services help leaders and teams keep their skills sharp so they shorten the learning-to-competence curve.

Ridge’s Leadership Communication courseware teaches leaders how to:

Lead with listening—to understand the true nature of complex problems and establish high-trust relationships

Harness the power of feedback discussions—to accelerate others’ learning, performance, and growth

Communicate with candor—to raise difficult issues confidently and professionally, manage the defensive reactions that accompany conflict, and create high-commitment agreements for the future.

Training for Teams

Ridge’s Team Communication training includes:

Listening in teams — to invite, include, understand, and validate diverse and dissenting voices and perspectives about an issue or problem

Candor in teams — to raise, position, and respond to issues in ways that don’t shut others down or out

Co-facilitation skills — so all members can monitor and support constructive team dynamics, manage group conflict when it emerges, and keep meetings / conversations / commitments / decisions on track.

We also facilitate one- and two-day retreats where teams establish collective commitments regarding:

  • the team’s mission, values, and goals
  • norms that enhance inclusion, collaboration, and productivity
  • equitable and flexible leadership and decision-making structures that drive the team’s success.
